Problem and Solution
Problem:
The number of patients immobilized by EMTs has doubled to over 90,000 EVERY DAY in the United States.
While that number seems huge, the real problem is the device they're most often using was designed in the 1960's as an extrication device, not a spinal immobilizer.
Backboards (or long spine boards) have no cushion, no padding, and have been shown through scientific studies to cause damage to patients. Other studies can't even prove they actually immobilize the spine. Instead, they attempt to immobilize the entire patient.
Because these devices are from the 1960s, no testing was ever done on backboards prior to being used on human beings. The regulations didn't exist then. Now, they are grandfathered in as industry standard.
If you've ever spent 10 minutes on one, you'll know the pain of being strapped to a backboard. Most patients spend hours waiting to be spinally cleared before being told they can be released from this device.
There has to be a better way!
The Solution:
TrueSpine is a patented spinal immobilization device designed by a former EMT to truly immobilize the spine.
TrueSpine is made from materials that are comfortable and provides cushion to immobilize the spine, while supporting the curvature of the patient's back.
TrueSpine solves the dilemma EMTs find themselves in every day of causing harm to patients, or adhering to protocols.
TrueSpine™ solves that problem by not harming the patient.
TrueSpine solves the dilemma of the service providers of potential lawsuits from injured patients.
