Experience, Education and Current Events

After a long absence from formal education, I decided to return to complete my bachelor's of science degree in Electrical Engineering.   Prior to that, (among other things) I volunteered at Elephant Butte Fire and EMS and quickly became a licensed NM EMT-B, then EMT-I, then EMS Coordinator at EB fire department.

I began RB Designs LLC in late 2017 as an undergrad at New Mexico State University (NMSU), in part because of my experience in Elephant Butte, and in part because of the wonderful opportunities at NMSU.  My first project was designing and developing TrueSpine, my very first patented invention.  While TrueSpine is not yet in production, I have been able to obtain two design and utility patents, and that seems like a perfect place of rest in order for me to concentrate on finishing my education.  For more information on TrueSpine, please check out the other part of my website, especially for updates and progress.

As of fall, 2023, after many setbacks due to family deaths and illnesses, I am finally in my senior year completing my BSEE with emphasis on computers and microelectronics at Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NMSU.

One of my classes this semester is a capstone course; ENGR 401.  The particular assignment is an optics project that myself and three talented teammates have recently begun.  I am super excited to enhance my undergrad studies with a project that involves optics, something I worked on as a drafter/designer at a small company, Electro Optical Industries when I lived in Santa Barbara, CA.
For capstone, I am
serving as the electrical engineering student and document engineer throughout this semester.  In addition to my significant and sustained contribution on the project, I am hopeful about the opportunities this project brings including possible career opportunity with the company we're working with. (fingers crossed!)

Another project I am heavily involved with is NMSU's NanoSat Lab.  I am one of the electrical engineering students on the Avionics team.  Together with the other teams, we are developing INCA, an ionospheric neutron content analyzer.  https://sites.google.com/view/nmsu-nanosat-lab/inca

I am working on the GPS, and am very excited to partake in this endeavor; to have hands on experience building a low earth orbiting satellite is fantastic

INCA is a project under Dr. Steven Stochaj (EE Department Chair) in conjunction with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and the University of New Hampshire.  Personally, having an opportunity to be (even if only a tiny) part of a NASA project really makes my day.  But the real cool part is working with the team on Avionics.  They exhibit excellence in their passion and dedication, values and work ethics.  I consider my work with INCA another wonderful opportunity.  There is something eternal about working on a project headed for space.  I would most definitely welcome the opportunity to career in electrical engineering in this field.

I have many designs in addition to TrueSpine that are in various stages of development.  RB Designs is not only about medical device manufacturing.  All projects have technological degrees of difficulty.  These design ideas are what drove me back to school.  Prior to my education, I lacked the technical knowledge or skill to even begin the actual design and test process.  Many of my inventions are still in zygote stage -- rough sketches and descriptions.  They need a lot of time, research, and attention to bring them along.  Hopefully many of my designs will be added to the RB Designs LLC portfolio, but only after being thoroughly vetted.  It will only be after graduation that any of them will have an opportunity.

RB Designs LLC began with one project, and will remain the parent company for my projects.  I am proud to have gotten as far as this and been able to maintain 100% ownership of my company.  All outside investments thus far have been non-diluted grants and partnerships.  My official title is sole proprietor; CEO/Inventor.  I hope to be able to add electrical engineer to that soon.
All that said, I am always open to partner(s) and serious team members.
Can't wait to see what's next!
